Poof and like magic ...drops again!

so much for the 52 week high as it dropped 10+%.  Yes I know that the entire market dropped but funny how the cheerleaders have not come out and "..backing truck up" mentality.

These price swings are too much and then the lame excuses that the share price dropped because WTI of WCS dropped all the while ignoring that those are spot market prices and thus CPG should not be so directly impacted.

Who knows, perhaps I am the only rationale or irrationale investor and or sufferer on this board that hits the BS button when I see BS?

Energy stock prices are BS though. On certain days even if WTI is slightly up many energy stocks can be down. The valuations of these stocks are nowhere near where they should be for WTI prices to start with. Expect lots of volatility right now because of the latest variant. It's going to really screw up the eergy stock prices, even though the actual energy companies are making truckloads of ...more

i hear you.  to make matters worse CPG is not giving back money to shareholders through dividends.  Yes I know that they bumped up their dividend by 50% but heck still paying a miserly 3%. So shareholders have been asked to take the position and are getting it allright.  Management is doing fine, thank you.

Most of these energy companies are nor giving back what they should be in dividends. I'm all in on energy stocks right now, but I've been seeing my capital dropping a lot in the last few weeks. I'm especially invested big in Enerplus, but they have been really cheap with their shareholders and aren't giving back much either at this point. Their excuse is that they don't want to ...more

I'm not sure I completely agree with you as CVE, IMO, CNQ, TOU just to name a few all seem to be doing quite well are are pretty close to where they should be. There are just some energy stocks that the MM's dislike and some that are easily manipulated and CPG happens to fall into both categories imo.

BigJoe I agree with you on many of the pipeline companies such as Canadian Natural Resources, but they haven't lost their valuations to the same degree as smaller cap companies did. I was heavily invested in Bonavista Energy for years, and it went bankrupt after the virus hit early last year, but it was also declining in share value for years. I also have had lots of stock in Enerplus, and it ...more

with all due respect an oil producer, like CPG, is not a pipeline compnay (like say Pembina or Enbridge) as the pipeline companies should be super stable with long term contracts that (to my knowledge) are not dependent on the price of oil.  Correct me if I am wrong but I thought that the pipelines cnotract out or sell capacity to the oil producers and they are charged $x per barrel ...more

Yes! I'm not sure where his pipeline companies came into the conversation as none of the O&G companies listed in my response were pipeline companies lol
Comment by DaveInvestor59 on Dec 15, 2021 11:25am
With all due respect that's exactly what I was saying LOL. I didn't say Crescent Point was a pipeline company. Obviously it's an oil company. I was just making the point that the pipeline companies have not lost their valuations to the same extent as smaller cap oil companies did. And I think it reads that way because I never made direct reference to any other pipeline company names ...more

Dave- i misread your posts and your points are spot on.  Hate it, but agree with assertion that the oils price slide will go on for a while.

Redfoxy, it's cool don't sweat it. I'm used to people thinking I'm uninformed lol. In any event, I don't know whether or not to get out of some of these energy stocks since I have way too much exposure at the moment. My timing always sucks though, that's the problem. As soon as I sell some of my stocks sentiment will turn around and the energy share prices will start to go ...more

No offence Dave, but I'd like to request you sell some stock.. we would love to see a turn around soon.. us longs would greatly appreciate it.. LOL.. ;-) Good luck either way..!

Moemoney42, it might be good for you and other longs if I sell some energy stocks but no doubt it wouldn't be good for me because my timing always sucks lol. I'm a long too, I've had some of my energy stocks for over a decade now. I'm glad that things are finally turning around for the energy sector.
