Click on the link provided and it will give a breif explanation of the vix. If you believe that the european crisis is unmanagableand will come to a breaking point in the next few months or that we will see a us debt ceiling debacle though a bit further off, or even a wild card event such as China greatly under performing expectations then this will be reflected violently & rapidly in the VIX which the VXX should replicate.
