Give up?

Has anyone given up due to the consistent underperformance of the shareprice and planned to sell it out?

I've been tempted over the years to switch horses but the monthly dividend keeps me here. I hold others in the sector, Cpg, Suncor and Birchcliff(52 week low). Whitecap has some ground to make up, expect it will sooner rather then later.

Thanks!  Hope it will catch up soon!  I am almost giving up tbh, and it's the dividend still holding me back same as you, except that I don't own any other oil and gas stocks :(

Same here. It is part of a portfolio, this is the stable part which provides a dividend. Sure I would like more share price appreciation, but I have other O&G stocks that make the crazy SP moves.

No I haven't given in, actually I bought another 5000 shares the day before ex div date. I know its a bit disheartening to see the captal getting hit every other day but I'm staying in for the div and eventually the capital appreciation which is going to happen sooner or later. WCP is a quality stock and I have no worries about its long term performance. Cheers

Nope. In the last 2 weeks I've significantly increased my position in WCP.  This is one of the very few companies in the sector that recognizes and values all shareholders.

I have also been adding some traders to my core position in WCP that I have been holding for years. Its been stuck in the 8.90 to 9.00 range for about a month now. Fagerheim has been quiet for a while also. I hope they are not wraping up another acquisition a la CPG where debt would sky rocket. Would like to see them take a very conservative posture in 2024 and get the debt below 1 billion ...more

I agree, no more acquisitions even if it is accreditive.  The markets not in the mood ....

Interesting comment re "egos don't get in the way".  Personally, re:CPG, I would prefer not to take on that much additional debt. I think if there was an aquisition, CPG may make sense, but I don't believe shareholders would react well to the purchase. My major concern is, if OPEC can't stabilize the oil price, and they turn the taps on, that would be bad for the debt ...more

What about a merger with CPG? I certain such a synergistic move would enable much savings?
Comment by Anschutz on Jan 06, 2024 3:53pm
CPG has been toxic for shareholders. Please keep my shares as far away from CPG management and board as possible.
Comment by barneyj44 on Jan 06, 2024 5:13pm
I hold both companies and it wouldn't bother me either way.  Don't think it would happen,  too many $2 million plus salaries would be in jeopardy....
