You may have read that on March 21, a Federal Court judge granted an injunction allowing those who have personal production licenses to grow medical marijuana to continue growing, pending the outcome of an upcoming trial.

So, what does this mean?

At Tweed, it is business as usual.

Our goal is to provide premium medical marijuana to improve the quality of life of Canadians who are suffering. We remain focused on this goal, and continue to grow an unmatched variety of quality medicinal cannabis.

The new MMPR (Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations) system, which makes it easier for healthcare practitioners to provide access to medical marijuana while establishing world-class growing facilities, continues to move forward, and we are excited to be a part of it.

To our present and future customers: Tweed will continue to register patients, grow an extensive variety of medical marijuana, while providing exceptional customer support. We would also like to re-assure anyone who has submitted an ATP (Authorization To Possess) to us as part of the registration process, that we would be happy to continue with your registration or, if you prefer, to return your ATP by mail. We will be contacting all customers who have submitted an ATP to ask how they would like to proceed.

To our investors and community stakeholders: Tweed’s primary focus is on market growth created by new patients obtaining prescriptions under the new streamlined MMPR process. We will continue to focus on educating the medical community with the objective of simplifying access to medical marijuana for patients and doctors. The immediate effect of the above noted court decision will likely mean lower initial numbers of existing MMAR patient registrations in the short-term as many may choose to continue growing their own medicine until the issue is settled by the pending trial. Tweed looks forward to providing increased choice to these patients, and will assist them in any way possible to demonstrate that we are a simple and safe alternative to growing at home.

The reaction of the Federal Government will become clearer over the next few days. At Tweed, we remain committed to building a business that can help the expected 450,000 medical marijuana users find legal, quality medicine they can understand and rely upon.

Here's to future growth.
