Cannabis Summary for January 11, 2021 by Stockwatch Business

Cannabis Summary for January 11, 2021 by Stockwatch BusinessGetting back to Acreage, if the recent additions of Mr. Caldini and Ms. Bayne are anything to go by, Acreage is doing an efficient job of finding and hiring CPG executives, although their contributions at this point remain difficult to measure. Worth noting is that Acreage's stock has nearly doubled to $6.08 from about $3.20 in the last week alone. This rise, however, has less to do with any management or board actions, and more to do with pro-cannabis political developments in the United States. Notably, Acreage has had an agreement since 2019 to be acquired by Canopy Growth Corp. (WEED: $40.14) once the U.S. federally legalizes cannabis. The CEO of Canopy, David Klein, mused in a BNN interview on Friday that he could see the takeover closing by the end of this year.
