WPX / Potash One comparison I compared FS of WPX and Potash One. These two projects seem incredibly similar. Look:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Potash One WPX
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reserves (proven+probable) 136 MT 137 MT
Rate 2.8 MT/year 2.8 MT/year
Economi life 40 years 40 years
Life at 2.8 MT/y 47 years 49 years
Net present value (NPV) 2.72 B$ 2.44 B$
Internal rate of return (IRR) 18.5 % 18.6 %
Payback period 6 years 5.6 years
Capital expenditures (Capex) 2.78 B$ 3.30 B$
Operation expenditures (Opex) 62.65 $/t 62.28 $/t
Shipping costs 45.50 $/t 59.0 $/t
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The greatest differences are in Capex and shipping costs. It could be attributed (to some extent) by the different time frames when these studies are produced.
Potash One is sold for 434 N$. If we take that price as a measure of the project value, then the WPX value should be similar. To take into account the changed circumstances, as well as other factors, I introduced allowances (to the downside) from 10 to 20 percent. Then the corresponding WPX "values" and share prices would be:
Allowance WPX "value" WPX share price
------------------------------------------------------------------------
-10 % 391 M$ 2.15 $
-15 % 369 M$ 2.03 $
-20% 347 M$ 1.92 $
