I would like to extend a Happy New Year to you and your family in 2024. Also, I would like to thank you for all your hard work you did in 2023: meetings in Ottawa, meeting Rio Tinto key people, meeting Mitsubishi Materials key people in the Yukon, meetings in Tokyo and India, and grassroots work in the Yukon.
Getting the Casino mine will be a pivotal moment for the Yukon: jobs, economy, lasting infrastructure. Casino, being the biggest project ever in the Yukon, will bring mostly permanent positive change, but there will be some footprint which Paul West-Sells is working hard to minimize. Still, this will bring jobs and raise the standard of living. Further, Casino will be important for getting the Yukon on the Grid. Lastly, copper will be important for the electrification of the planet.
In this context, I would like to know at what stage you are at in regards to negotiating getting on the Grid with the BC government? Are the feds on board? I recently heard Jakob say "No grid, no mine". I am a little concerned that something concrete will materialize in the next 18 months. The Grid will also be good for housing and businesses in the Yukon. Is Ottawa ignoring us.
