dingass - why are you only concerned about capex???? You should change your alias to tele-marketer ---- which is about as bad as a meth smoking meathead.....  yeah...---- capex = $500M and NPV @ $3.5Cu showing $669M....and payback of 2.6 years and IRR of 20% and 2.6 year payback.... BUT your poster child which , you are evidentily trying to show Casino is inferior to this,  is using 5 ...more

Show us something with a 50 YR + mine life ! By the time casino is mined out in 50 to 100YRS copper will be $15 LB KEMESS UNDERGROUND PROJECT .The FS contemplates the development of a low-cost panel caving operation to extract the KUG reserves over a 12 year mine life. $500M ?

Marine - and one very very important thing to consider.....our NPV used an 8% discount factor of future cash flows....where future cash flows using $3.35 cu....ridiculous way to value a project with such a long mining life!!!!! of course 300,000 oz of Gold mined 20 years from now at an 8% discount won't amount to hill of beans IF gold is only $1800 in 20 years. It's a tragedy that NPV ...more

I'd be willing to bet that Wrn/Rio will be using a very sophisticated equation to calculate price and the would take into account best case, worst case, most likely future gold and copper prices and weight them accordingly. Rio is taking future risk, however Wrn needs to be credited with likely higher resource prices. (By the way when I say Rio I mean any major that takes this on).

Remember Sooner, RIO is looking at the basics:  Can they confirm the deposit size and grades at Casino as advertised?  Check.  Can they confirm the metallurgy and that the milestones for permitting are clear and unambiguous?  Check. What is 30 million ounce equivalent of gold worth over a projected 50 year mine life?  Obviously well north of a billion dollars USD.  ...more

Don't overlook the copper potential!  It may well double in price faster than gold given the EV's, housing starts, green movement, space exploration, etc.

Those mega windmills GE is installing use a lot of copper as well. Gold around 1815 today futures market and copper up 4 or 5 cents last I looked
