Interesting that our current SP is so close to what Rio bought in for. Coincidence??

Noticed that too, Pine. I'm trying not to make anything of it, given my horrible track record at trying to piece anything together. For example, I thought between the Open House coming up, the "imminent drill results" and the Preliminary Shelf filing from Friday, they' d "have to" issue a press release today. Right? But no, of course not. Not ol' Western. Only ...more

We are up 10% since day before announcement I think and Rio is down 25%....and probably Rio like most mining equities. should make for difficult negotiations from a WRN standpoint right now. Just look how Rio used this in their negotiations with TRQ - albeit I wouldn't classify that process as a textbook way to negotiate/// at least on that point I believe they were spot on.

Should make for a great time for Newmont to enter in and get 8% right now!!!

The one thing we (WRN management and us investors) CANNOT do above all else is give RIO any impression we are unwilling or even uneasy with them walking.  We lose ALL negotiating power if they, or worse yet we, believe we MUST have them.  IMHO, any extension with RIO, which I fully expect, CANNOT come with any concessions on WRN part (more shares, renegotiated terms, etc) other than ...more

Agree - my dream scenario is on same day as Rio extends we disclose another CA that has been in effect for 12 months with Newmont and where they also will take an 8% stake! my other option would be to allow Rio to acquire another 4% on open market over the next 12 months! Unless Rio is aware of another interested party ...I suspect we will be challenged to get what we all want in terms of buyout ...more

yes. Last Friday. I also notice the closing price at Rio's price. That means: market is ready. Let's fly or drop. All depend on management show. And Paul 's family name is : West-sell. So. Paul will do it.
Comment by Heywood_Silvers on Nov 21, 2022 11:42am
I guarantee you his family name is not "West-Sells".  There are probably two paternal families in his background (the Wests and the Sells).  Why does he use a truncated name?  Who knows, maybe he was adopted?? Back on point, I hear you, you want the fast sale now.  Most of us are willling to wait for the big payday though and are content for the stars to align. Let& ...more
