We are up 10% since day before announcement I think and Rio is down 25%....and probably Rio like most mining equities. should make for difficult negotiations from a WRN standpoint right now. Just look how Rio used this in their negotiations with TRQ - albeit I wouldn't classify that process as a textbook way to negotiate/// at least on that point I believe they were spot on.

The one thing we (WRN management and us investors) CANNOT do above all else is give RIO any impression we are unwilling or even uneasy with them walking.  We lose ALL negotiating power if they, or worse yet we, believe we MUST have them.  IMHO, any extension with RIO, which I fully expect, CANNOT come with any concessions on WRN part (more shares, renegotiated terms, etc) other than

Agree - my dream scenario is on same day as Rio extends we disclose another CA that has been in effect for 12 months with Newmont and where they also will take an 8% stake! my other option would be to allow Rio to acquire another 4% on open market over the next 12 months! Unless Rio is aware of another interested party ...I suspect we will be challenged to get what we all want in terms of buyout
