Specifics of Kaminak/Goldcorp Deal

Does anyone have specifics on the Kaminak/Goldcorp deal? How were shareholders treated? Complete buy? Given shares in Goldcorp? Trying to figure out how some of these issues may apply to us, if they do at all? Obviously, Kaminak was a buy out, but how were shareholders treated on that one. Note: Many former Goldcorp people now work for Newmont, although they do not seem to hold the same clout as the Australian brass.

Reuters May 12, 2016   Goldcorp Inc said it would buy Kaminak Gold Corp for about $520-million, giving it the Coffee gold project south of Dawson City, Yukon. Vancouver-based Goldcorp will offer 0.10896 of a share for each Kaminak share, or $2.62 based on Goldcorp’s Wednesday close.   The offer price represents a premium of 32.3 per cent to Kaminak’s Wednesday close.     ...more

We must ask ourselves why was kaminak trading so much closer to NPV than WRN is at the time they were negotiating with gold Corp!

Paul, Vitton and Dale are very much aware of the problem. Let's not forget that Ross Beaty is also one of the HNW investors. I'm pretty sure that if any group of managers can close the gap between SP and NPV they can. The drill results and PEA will be the tools they use. They are connected and will do a dog and pony show and push this thing higher through the 1st 3 quarters of 2021.   ...more

Steve, one other key piece of info, price of gold when buyout occurred was $1278 -US which is about $570/oz-US less than today's closing price of $1,848/oz - US. Kaminak Gold gave the shareholders 3 options, sell all Kaminak Gold shares and exit, sell partial Kaminak Gold shares and buy Gold Corp shares, or convert all Kaminak Gold shares to Gold Corp shares. I ended up selling all my Kaminak ...more

Correction - the Victoria Gold rollback was 1:15. There was another stock I owned that had a 1:25 roll back. Just an observation, shareholders very seldom gain from a reverse split rollback. (bb-99)

Yes, BB, Dalradian in 2015 closed a 11.3 million deal with Ross Beaty. In 2014, Ross Beaty put 6.8 million into Kaminak. There was a 33% surge in Kaminak’s stock price immediately after Beaty’s investment. Beaty certainly has the Midas touch. He is our largest HNI and once sat on our board. Not too shabby. This project is born to succeed. Just takes patience. Also, think you chose a good time ...more

33% premium share price as of announcement and 40% premium to prior 20 day average. NPV of coffee showed like $500m Canadian and gold Corp bought for $500m Canadian. Unless kaminak had other assets...that's a large price. Perhaps in 2016 equity valuations on gold miners higher....or kaminak leadership did better job of creating value for shareholders than WRN leadership!
