RE:RE:Minto closesBesides the cost of additional water treatment at the mine, Minto also faced much higher outbound transport costs as Port of Skagway was closing for a 2 year port upgrade, and that almost triples the distance Minto had to truck copper concentrate to reach a deep water port. They were operating with a lot of debt to service & it was a marginal operation in the best of times. Higher costs and the dip in copper price finally made the decision for them.
