I bought my first gold!

Hey guys , I just bought 1100$ in gold here in Canada seems easy enough , so as gold rises and drops my value is less, so if gold goes up my money is worth more and I can withdrawal if I make a certain amount at any time? I'm wondering about this because if I buy say 50,000 $ worth it goes up I can make a fair amount. Am I right about how this works? Thanks
