... but generally nasty breakups are kept pretty quiet with severance pay and confidentiality agreements and all. Most larger companies choose just to pay someone out than outright fire them for PR and image and bad press reasons.

It's a possibility, but that would not square with Altman being nominated as CEO of Zennabis. If Altman screwed up at McCain, the word would have been around, and people in upper management would certainly know that much.
