RE:RE:Re: Who Knows About Closing versus Effective Date Matt Yes, we witnessed a lot of value destruction. Food for thought here:
Einstein was once quoted as saying:
“The most important question you can ever ask is if the world is a friendly place.”
Einstein went on to explain the meaning behind his quote and here’s what he said:
“For if we decide that the universe is an unfriendly place, then we will use our technology, our scientific discoveries and our natural resources to achieve safety and power by creating bigger walls to keep out the unfriendliness and bigger weapons to destroy all that which is unfriendly and I believe that we are getting to a place where technology is powerful enough that we may either completely isolate or destroy ourselves as well in this process.(my bold)
If we decide that the universe is neither friendly nor unfriendly and that God is essentially ‘playing dice with the universe’, then we are simply victims to the random toss of the dice and our lives have no real purpose or meaning.
But if we decide that the universe is a friendly place, then we will use our technology, our scientific discoveries and our natural resources to create tools and models for understanding that universe. Because power and safety will come through understanding its workings and its motives.” (my bold)
TBE was a challenge. The universe is a friendly place but caveat emptor.
Oldfart,
Thank you for the relevant insights. After consideration, I will not purse the matter further. I still think though that the value lying in the positive cashflows occuring during the delay may not have been appreciated fully.
Contrary to perhaps other insolvency oil and gas transactions, the positive cashflows arising from TBE assets after the effective date are significant and have value to the party that can ultimately benefit from this relatively long delay.
So, I will not pursue the matter further based on the following assumptions:
-the purchase price reflects also the value of the beneficial ownership during the interim
-the closing will happen soon and will not be unduly delayed by the purchaser
