'flash in the pan'.

Apparently you can get 3-4 hemp crops a year in southern States - not sure where you'd grow cannabis outdoors in the Canadian winters.

You can grow cucumbers and tomatoes cheaper outdoors as well, but commercial greenhouses or grow facilties, yes with heat and artifical lights, are necessary for year round production.

RE:RE:Until Tilray learns how to control

Greenhouses were a flash in the pan, bad idea, end of story.

Greenhouses are expensive to build and maintain, heat and light when adequate amounts of field grown pot and hemp can be grown just about anywhere, more cheaply than in a greenhouse.

Outdoor grow is cheap. Most in the greenhouse industry would agree that's where it ends. Outdoor cannabis grows are at the mercy of the environment. Soil conditions, rain, pollution, whatever the wind blows in, pests, security etc.

Greenhouse grows strive to achieve and maintain the highest quality control throughout the growing process. By doing this, they maintain the quality and integrity of the strain being grown while maximizing the use of space and resources.

I have no doubt that hemp is a great candidate for an outdoor farm environment, small operators growing outdoor cannabis have their place as well, but in my opinion large scale cannabis grows for the mainstream market are best suited in a greenhouse environment.
