You may want to do a Google Search on how many US States have opted to legalize Medican and / or Recreational Cannabis. You should find apx 44 States of 50 have already made the leap and legalized one or the other.

The US Fed is already behind the times, IMHO they will indeed legalize simply do to "the majority rules" reality of politics. Besides this, it's an election year, they want to win votes.
