Iraq Oil Minister: Kurdish Agreement 'Activated' In Days


CAIRO -(Dow Jones)- Iraq will soon activate an agreement signed with Kurdistanearlier this year to export crude, Iraq's new oil minister Abdul Kareem Luaibysaid Friday.

"We have already signed an agreement with Kurdistan ...God willing thisagreement will be activated within a few days," Luaiby told reporters in Cairo.

Luaiby's appointment to lead the oil ministry was approved by the Iraqparliament this week, as part of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's newCabinet. Al-Maliki has pledged to fulfill key demands from the Kurdish regionthat have long plagued Iraqi politics.

Luaiby said that Iraq is happy with current oil prices and OPEC could meetagain before June if market fundamentals change.
