Thunderstruck Resources – Copper & Zinc Exploration in the Pacific Ocean’s Ring of Fire

Thunderstruck Resources Ltd. (TSXV:AWE) is developing a diverse portfolio of mineral properties in the island archipelago of Fiji. The Company’s two flagship properties are the Nakoro and Wainaleka zinc-copper projects located on the main island of Fiji, Viti Levu. Thunderstruck’s Fijian property portfolio covers nearly 4 percent of the main island and also includes the prospective Liwa Creek Gold Project, and Rama Creek copper-gold porphyry.

Nakoro Zinc-Copper Project

Thunderstruck Resources’ main asset is the Nakoro zinc-copper volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) project on the main island of Fiji, Viti Levu. Thunderstruck Resources acquired a 100% ownership option on the property in July 2014 from Aljen (Pacific) Limited. Forestry roads extend across the property and the hydroelectric power station at the Monasavu Dam is only 20 km northeast of Nakoro. The project is in the same district as Newcrest’s Namosi JV Project.

Thunderstruck Resources conducted a surface exploration program at Nakoro in 2014. Assay results from the field work confirmed the potential for high-grade copper mineralization as well as high-grade zinc and silver. Results from the initial samples include values of 19.3% and 11.3% Cu; 25.6% and 14.0% Zn; 1,026 Ag g/t and 498 g/t Ag g/t.

“We’re very encouraged by these results,” stated Bryce Bradley, Thunderstruck Resources’s President and CEO. “It is clear that Nakoro offers not only the potential for zinc, but also the potential for high-grade copper mineralization. We look forward to testing the full significance of this copper mineralization with future drilling.”

Wainaleka Zinc-Copper Project

Thunderstruck Resources’s second flagship project is the Wainaleka zinc-copper VMS project. Thunderstruck has a 100% ownership option on Wainaleka under the July 2014 agreement with Aljen (Pacific) Limited. The property is approximately 10 km from the south coast of the main island and 50 km by modern highway from the deep water port at the Fijian capital of Suva.
Two stacked mineralized zones are apparent at Wainaleka including a high-grade central zinc zone, and an underlying and adjacent copper zone. The project has the potential for an initial open pit with only a few metres of surface oxidation which will maximize tonnage for flotation.

Investment Highlights

  • Significant mineral deposits on the main island including Vatukoula Gold Mine and Namosi JV project.
  • 26 holes drilled by Anglo with grades up to 12.7% Zn and 2% Cu.
  • High-grade copper, zinc, silver and gold targets.
  • Accomplished management and exploration team.
  • Excellent infrastructure: deep water port, hydroelectric dam and paved roads.
  • You’ll find more details in the Thunderstruck Resoucres presentation.

The team is currently conducting stream sediment sampling and mapping in order to define the limits of the base metal mineralization, and drill sites for Thunderstruck’s impending drill program are being planned. Don't miss this opportunity!
