RE: RE: CPU's & GPU's in supercomputer......Hi Snowwolf:
I did email investor relations last week on this:
Question:
Just wondering what AMD Fusion products you are giving input on; is there morethan just the APU
in the Fusion Family? and are you working on accelerating the APU?
thank you,
Answer:
Thanks for your continued interest in Acceleware. We havewritten high performance computing applications in OpenCL that can run on AMDGPUs, and we feature AMD and OpenCL in our training courses. As for the AMDFusion chip – it is specifically targeting consumer applications to start, muchlike the Intel Sandybridge. However, many people believe that both chips canevolve into serious HPC platforms, where we play. Acceleware is platformagnostic and we continue to work with all of the major CPU/GPU vendors.
Thanks,
Geoff Clark
I had to look up the definition of "platform agnostic"
You're in technology heaven when your software is"platform agnostic." It means it'll run on any computer operating system such as Linux, Unix, Windows, Mac, etc. For example, Acrobat Reader.
As you noticed he did kind of dance around all the questions. However we are on a need to know bases.
Some of the things are hush hush and some reserved for press releases. The AXE info on youtube did state Firestream & Fusion. The only product in the Fusion line is the APU. So I'm gonna go with yes; they are working on the new Fusion APU.
