RE:Here are the 2 options the NDP offered BKM

I also agree Option 2 is the better choice of the two, with one caveat. With all the delay tactics played by the current and former govt's, my concern is the current Ministers fall back on the former Ministers decision as precedent not to approve, without sufficient additional information. Lawyers love using precedents to support their arguments. Ralston is a QC. Maybe if they can spin it to score political points, it will motivate them to approve.

"as in option 2. I note that proceeding to a decision without completion of the further assessment process would mean that Ministers would be making a decision based solely on existing information. However, the former Ministers, in issuing the Order, determined that the existing information was insufficient."

What more do they need?  Anyone who has read the reports prior to Sturko's flip flop, can see there are no adverse effects. But in politics facts, along with common sense, often become causlaties of ideology. I give John credit for not giving up. Maybe the current gov't will have an epiphany.

Of course there is always the courts, but that could be 10 + years of legal fighting and millions in lawyer fees by the time it works it's way through all the Appeals.

I'm staying cautiously optimistic. Considering all the jobs and tax revenue this project will produce for the LBN and province as a whole, I hope the facts prevail, "No adverse effects" and let's move forward for everyone's benefit.

Johny
