BIOTITE - MUSCOVITEBIOTITE - has the magnesium ( darker micas )
MUSCOVITE - has the aluminum ( white mica )
Now.... it's great that each can be distinguidhed, but...
i'd say the aluma and magnesium could be
present in both species of micas.

What interests me more ?
Why ( feldspar ) quartz with potassium comes in sheet like facies.
VS
Quartz comes in crystal.
Can a potasic fluid crreate quartz to change it's crystal structure and elvolve into -
sheet like glass ?
Chlorite ( sodic ) intrusion comes along and morphs the elements and transitions to - biotite.
If mica is sheet like... i woud make that bet and say....
feldspar sheet like quartz morphed - potassium swapped out and replaced with chlorite
to transition to - biotite.
Does one search out - quartz or feldspars ?
Did quartz turn to feldspar to micas ?
At the end of the day... it still doesn't solve how each mineral came into being.
We know they morph... we know they collaborate with each other forming multi bonds...
But.... it seems all we have to go on is.. .what nature presents the minerals as, and only at
what transition it is when found....
The holy grail is....
knowing what recipe and temp is used to create each mineral.
Which brings this subject to.... what if all the metal constituents were present but each were not
quite given the correct - heat - could it result in - transitional metals not fully cured - insufficent heat results in - no super alloying on a molecular and thermal level ?
Maybe, maybe not. But then again... what if it were as simple as this... similar to baking a cake.
One could have all the right ingredients, but with insufficient heat - the cake never develops into a cake.
The alchemy of minerology.
west side sudbury may have had more iron mafic heat to complete the transitioning.
east side had more hydrothermal fluids.
i wonder if others have ever tried to formulate a nickel using - 3,4,5, other minerals ?
It's like the mineral, schist.
Could one say it's - scorched felspar quartz or burnt charred - micas ?
What i do know is....
Resifting all the - micas - would be smart.
Knowing nickel can hide in between the sheet like facies.
I've seen biotite in - granites.
It's the black round and oval specks.
Not quite the sheen as other biotites.
Quite dull - similar to a coal.
Yet... under a magnify glass most often - i'll see various pyrite species.
greys and golds.
Yup... probing the SPJ biotites / micas would be a great endeavor.
When one really thinks about it.... most all minerals stem from - salts.
Chloric + Sulphur
Are the two ( catalysts ) that cause transitions.
ACID + BASE
The culprits that make it all happen.
Cheers....
