The working group is chaired by the Minister of Mining and Energy, Aleksandar Antic, and she will coordinate the work of all relevant authorities, institutions and other entities engaged in the project, the ministry said.
This will enable more efficient development of the Jadar Project. through the study phase and the process of obtaining permits, in accordance with the law. Serbia is expected to be able to generate a significant part of the world's lithium production thanks to a lithium and borate site.
The aim of the Working Group is to enable the most efficient implementation of the activities in the process of opening the mine and the beginning of the exploitation of lithium and borate, which will greatly affect the development of Serbia.
The development of the project in the given timeframes and its implementation will make Serbia in the near future a key processor of two very important elements - lithium and boron, which are essential for the application of modern technologies in different branches of the economy. In this way, we will give a flyer to the growth of the Serbian economy, "said Minister Antic.
The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Loznica Vidoje Petrovi and the CEO of Rio Sava Exploration, Richard Stori.
The Government of the Republic of Serbia and Rio Tinto signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the Jadar Project in late July this year. Rio Tinto has so far invested over $ 90 million.
