A reminder daytrading is a fools errand

daytrading is a fools errand

i was once sitting in the  entrance of doubeileveidonts hedge fund office and waiting for the man himself to offer me a job.
i had tried every possible combination of email addresses for him and kept sending him updates of how my trading was going.this was about a decade ago.i had no idea if i was reaching him.

then once upon a time we started instant messaging.and then he asked me to drive over to his office.i was there within 2 hours.i was jealous of everyone walking around in the office.they were good enough to work there but i wasnt.maybe this time.

i showed him a transcript i wrote about trading.i like this stuff he said and threw the book on the chair.he told me youll get better economics working for me than trying to make it on your own.
so we decided to test something out.before every trade i would instant message him the trade and then he can see how i work.
no problem in my mind.i was on a winning streak with close to 100 winning trades in a row.

the next fourteen trades i messaged him i lost money on.i was devastated.i stopped messaging him.what happened he wrote me once.but i was too ashamed to respond.i really wanted to work there.the dream was over.
eventually i came and joined his niche in the industry.

the problem was one i had not been familiar with.one that cost me and will cost you dearly.those damn machines.take for instance one HFT at a recent conference in london hypothesized that his latest algorithm would be able to execute 64,000 trades per day at an average profit of $0.0001 per trade for a grand total of $600.not shabby by any means.

what this means for you is that now more than ever day trading is a fools errand.if you were ever tempted to enter the fray recognize once and for all that those banks of computers chugging away at their algorithms have you hopelessly outclassed.theres simply no way an individual human being can compete against a fleet of CPUs that rivals NASAs. do not i repeat do not try it.you will lose.

now doubelieveidont is retired.so am i.that just means  we want no one bothering us.

but i do have to say anyone who thinks they can make it in the trading or hedge fund business at this point is smoking crack.you might as well put your money in that pipe and smoke it also.

three types of people and only three types of people make money in the stock market.

1.those who hold forever.for instance Bill Gates and Warren Buffett hold shares of their own companies Microsoft and Berkshire Hathaway pretty much forever and that is the bulk of their net worth.they are the richest people in history so this seems like a good technique.build something of value and ride it until you die.

2.people who hold for a trillionth of a second:high frequency traders trade thousands or even millions of times in a second.they take tiny little arbitrages and add them up throughout the day.they rarely have a losing day.who does this? Goldman Sachs some of the bigger hedge funds (including doubelieveidont back in the day) and anyone who has the money to wire right into the exchanges.

3.people who do something fishy.in the 80s it was trading ugly junk bonds.in the 90s there was a trick called playing the calendar.
another trick in the 90s was reg s transactions.look it up. a lot of people went to jail.

in the early 2000s it was mutual fund timing.one large hedge fund manager told me their hedge fund managers fought and paid large fines.one former investor of doubelieveidont is still fighting it in court in England.i cant give up he told me.in the u.s. its o.k. to fail and move on.in ####### youre guilty forever.

it all came to an end.the only thing left the only way anyone can make money (other than 1 and 2 above) is insider trading.
but insider trading is a very gray area.if an expert at a company gives you an opinion on the industry is he giving you inside information?

i traded for many years.it was very stressful for me.id feel the blood pumping through my body until i thought i was going to have a heart attack.
some days id wake up early and go to the church across the street and pray i hope you love me enough to make futures go up in the premarket this morning.my prayers were rarely answered.

the only way to make money is to deliver value to people. dont try to get rich playing a fools game.

eventually i joined doubelieveidont realsgctruthman mycashgoesohno in helping others to attain their financial nirvana.did it work or more on point does it work?you be the judge.

if you take nothing more from this than holding on to your winners until they perform to your highest expectation then i have succeeded in my task.

Metanor has become the little engine that could.in my previous career i could identify manipulation and vicious action to demoralize investors.
the earmarks are all here.

in a previous note i admonished you get your ducks in a row. great things are coming for this company. look for more eric sprott involvement more cash flowing to the treasury lower cost per oz greater transparency a higher resource higher production last but not least a higher share value as the market cap increases to fair value.
the repetition is justified.a proclivity to meticulousness is being implemented more than you can imagine.
news is one thing blockbuster news is another.these often called game changers are needed in the here and now.Metanor Resources is on the periphery of just such an event.
you may not be aware of that just yet.patience.we are here.read those last four sentences once more.

okay boysngirls im out of here…..continued success to you all who follow doubelieveidonts excellent commentary  as he will continue to keep you on the correct side of the trend…… and that in todays world is one hell of a result!

$CHEER$!

In the meantime, it’s best to remember those haunting words by T.S. Eliot, himself a Lloyd’s Bank employee:

    Between the order
    And the confirmation
    Between the bid
    And the ask
    Falls the shadow.
