Geology....Realgar and Orpiment have been making their deput since the association between the Osiris and
the Carlin Trend.....and rightfully so but I can't help but find the geology so captivating that
is being repeated over and over again in these releases. Now it is becoming apparent that we
should also be taking note of the terms " "Calcite Flooding" and "Limestone Unit".
The history of the dry dessert of Nevada and how it came to be the largest gold district known
is worth grasping in itself.
So, what does that mean......calcite flooding and how is it different from the other?
Heres a clue I think ..........."Fossil fish, which are abundant in some of Nevada’s diatomite
deposits, are evidence of wetter times in the Miocene"
Now, let's relate this to today's update and what this significance is.......... "The Osiris mineralization
occurs in limestone debris flows and turbidite deposits characteristic of an offshore sedimentary
environment whereas, the Tiger is hosted by shallow water dolomitized limestone. " Also, let's
recall the Osiris is "realgar and orpiment," and Tiger is "pyrite and arsenopyrite."
Realgar and orpiment with calcite flooding are common attributes of areas peripheral to, or above,
certain gold deposits of the Carlin type.
From today's Update, we now have more limestone units announced in the Isis which is
drawing another comparison between the two....."arsenic soil geochemical anomalies
that lie in the Isis limestone unit".........."drill hole OS-10-01 within the Osiris
limestone unit"
"Conrad and Eaton Showings have gold-bearing mineralization in outcrop associated
with orpiment and realgar"; another association contining more Carlin Trend style deposits.
Here is a link that really covers the basic understanding and significance, in layman's terms,
to the geology and history of the Carlin Trend.
