why do you waste your breathe here.  To convince yourself your are right. That Russia is a super power and always will be? The Soviet Unio will be reborn! That Russia will rule supreme over an ever expanding empire? You lost Ukraine in 2014. Putin had his chance in 2014 but he didn't follow through. That's when he blew it.  Back then there probably was enough closet supporters of Russia to support a quick war and win for Russia over Ukraine. Missed opportunity but I'm sure the Russian elite forgive Putin for that. 

Now 2022, a quick win with Russian superior army is a given? A blitz of the country and the weak stupid ukranians will fold quickly, install a puppet government and start making changes to bring Russia back to the glory days of the Soviet Union. Oops, the Ukranians now believe in a free and distinct Ukraine.  Not as many pro-Russian supporters as they thought. The Ukrainians have spent the last 8 years soaking up the training from the west, started believeing in themlseves as a country separare and distinct from Russia. Preparing themsleves for what they knew was coming. No quick victories here. Russia has to grind out each kilometer, losing manpower and equipment en masse. Now your playing right into the hands of the US. Good thinking Putin.  I'm sure the elites  of Moscow and St. Petersburg will forgive him again/ 

Putin is now leaning on Luschenko at the same time he is taking away his ammunition to restock his forces in Ukraine. Putin's distrust of Luschenko is well desrved.  Luschenko is playing the waiting game and at the same time mocking  Putin. He expressed his support of  Putin's  war by saying Belarus  was the only country willing to do so.  Talk about backed handed support. Luschenko knows that he risks belarus stability if he actively commits Belarussian forces to Ukraine. He'll play the fool and wait  for what happens to Putin. 

This has turned into a war of attrition. Putin will not stop until it cannot go any further. He has 50 years of Soviet weaponry at his disposal so he grinds on. Ukraine will rope-d-dope for many months and Russia will exhaust itself . But Putin has no choice  since he is Russian. When things grind to a halt then he will be replaced. There is not much forgiveveness in Russia. 

I'm sure China is watching and learning. Russia always talks tough but when it ends up taking months / years to grind through poor inferior Ukraine do you really think they will be impressed by the great Russian armed forces superiority. Russia  has a lot of nuclear weapons and natural resources. Does that make a super power?  Time will tell. 

Looking forwad to how Russia plays their let's starve the world" and their "let's stop the flow of oIl / natural gas to Europe" cards.
