That's because people are trapped.  For example, for every million shares they SHORT, it costs them $10,000 for every PENNY the price goes up (That's a LOT of exposure !), so they have NO CHOICE but to restrain the price increase and PRAY for bad news, at this point.  If a deal happens, they will get wipded out, (could easily amount to $200,000-300,000 liability PER every million shares !) so it's essentially an "ALL IN" move for the SHORTs at this point.

Looking4, agreed. Probably more than half the volume on the ask side is false - as soon as good news is out they will run for their lives
