CLA-1816 strongly binds with and activates the alpha3 glycine pain receptor in the spine. The Company has leased a laboratory, office, and archival space in Beverly, Massachusetts.

If you read the press release, carefully, you will note that it says that Cuzzocrea has carried out 40 studies on R-107. I will quote it for you here:

Dr. Cuzzocrea brings expert knowledge of R-107 to Claritas, having carried out more than 40 studies of this molecule in the treatment of experimental models of acute lung injury, pulmonary arterial hypertension, wound healing, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and multiple organ failure in sepsis and endotoxic shock. 

This is in the PAST tense which means that this is work that HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE. That is the purpose of using the past tense in English. 

Hence, the Company obviously has worked for years with Professor Cuzzocrea. This is self-evidently a real company with a serious purpose.
