Please notice that the Ballart property is not too far from the Manson place and just a bit farther is the location of the minivan where the German family died of exposure and thirst on the other side of the mountains. Notice how the narrator mentions how impassable some of the mountain roads are. The mining trucks would had have to pass through some the most difficult geography any where. I remember how I did not the appoach to the mine back to the Manson house. Well it is even worse than I could have imagined. I think mgt of CMC had extremely poor judgement.
