Looks like we're about to break below 100,000 tons

I would have never thought we'd come down this far in nickel inventories. As of now, were sitting just above 100,000 tons on the LME. I'm wondering if we retest the lows at around 65,000 ish. If these low inventories can't get the nickel price to go, then I don't know what will.

I was wondering whether the LME is an accurate reflection of the inventory levels. Some of the big guys have started using blockchain technology for smart contracts and payments and deliveries. Not sure how this impacts LME though. Especially w/r to China producers. Do you know?

A comparison between LME and blockchain technology, I couldn't tell you Caramba. It may be that LME is considered "old school". Not sure. But looking just at LME, you'd be correct to say it may not represent an accurate reflection. It's more complicated than that. However I look for an established trend. When we had inventory at about 264,500 last April and now we're at ...more

Agreed. Wouldn't change the trend. It appears after some more digging that it's still early. However it will be supper important for suppliers in general to provide traceability as the teslas and Mercedes want to know where the ni is coming from. At one point soon Mark will have to jump on that too considering the premium product with its sustainability attributes. Just this by itself ...more

I find it ironic that Elon Had decided to sign up with the Goro mine in New Caledonia after claiming in 2016 Tesla would source ALL their resources from north america. Not that CNC doesn't have other options. Just shows how saying  how "green" one wants to be over actually being "green". https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/30/world/asia/tesla-batteries-nickel-new ...more

Do you actually believe anything ELON says? Not a chance- it's all about him.

You are correct sir !

There's still GM, Ford etc who are desperate for a steady nickel supply. I'm hoping that's the reason for the strategic delay.

I hope so endzone. That would be huge.

Check BHPs investors day on YouTube. Mike was very clear that their main focus regarding battery metals is Nickel. Period. Now that was when the Noront bid was still on the table. What are his options now to deliver on the promis growing their Ni production? CNC, FPX, TALON. Not sure what else looks interesting. To me it would be CNC.
