Economics of lower grade sulphide projects

Today's negative nellies and sellers may be tomorrows weepers. Copper is produced low grade so why not nickel sulphide ?

BHP uses .5% cut off, so .3 to .4% or bit lower is not profitable with nickel at record prices ? Just like low grade gold deposits spread over huge areas they become more profitable as gold price gets.

The neagative armchair geologists here are probably short or wouldn't waste their time posting.

Endzone "Copper is produced low grade so why not nickel sulphide ?" You are correct, nickel sulphide even in very low levels such as here, can sometimes be economically processed. The problem with the CNC cores is that in many of their cores there is ZERO sulphur. These are not sulphides, the small amounts of nickel present is locked in a silicate matrix and cannot be processed by ...more

Then how come BHP has a mine at .5 % ? Crawford has sufficient sulfur or the metallurgy tests wouldn't have been positive and improving over the year. Are you a metallurgist?
