How do you charge your EV's in this?

1 Million people without power in Quebec after yesterday's storm, 459,000 in Montreal. How do you charge Electric Vehicles without Electricity? Anyone remember the Ice Storm of 1998 when a CN Rail Locomotive had to be placed on the Street outside Montreal's City Hall to generate electricity? Major Ice storms are a feature of this country and are not EV friendly!

I hope those 459K Montrealers are asking a lot of tough questions to the Prince of Papineau.

Last time I looked gas station pumps run on electricity. Anti EV guy invests in raw materials company then disses EV's.  Save it for your next convoy meet up.

ICE Cars and PHEV's can be filled up with these things called jerry cans that don't need electricity. The Government is forcing a Singapore solution on a Country that gets extremely cold. Ask our Tesla owner friends to the south how their Christmas road tips went during that bomb cyclone. Enterprise Rent a Cat and the AAA had a lot of calls for stranded Teslas. The ones luck enough ...more

Can you recommend a brand that does not use nickel,  stainless steel or chrome? I'm interested now! Glta
Comment by CanadianPatriot on Apr 06, 2023 4:42pm
BYD they are also doing very well against Tesla.
Comment by EndZonefor7 on Apr 06, 2023 3:25pm
Jerry cans ? Where are you supposed to fill these jerry cans up when the gas pumps don't work ? Steal the gas ? Do you read ? LOL  BTW no one is supposed drive for a few days with the streets covered in ice and trees knocked down to let crews repair the lines so the gas pumps can work.
Comment by CanadianPatriot on Apr 06, 2023 4:43pm
Sorry never experienced this in all my years driving.  Talk to a neighbour with a Tesla lots of problems and considerations for simple trips.
Comment by CanadianPatriot on Apr 06, 2023 4:41pm
The other issue is that in areas prone to floods and this certainly includes Canadian cities whose infrastructure has not kept up, car fires start.  EV fires are nasty in the chemicals they release and they are extremely hard to put out. I don't think the move to EV will be as rapid as enironmentalists are claiming it to be. That's why I own both energy and EV plays outside the ...more

Yes rockstar, the Tesla Powerwall actually detects a storm is coming and loads up the battery to the max. You would have your car charged to the 300KM limit most have. Since you're supposed to stay in doors the car could save you by feeding your house for a few days it takes to survive.

Guy on CBC News last night trying to find gas : "This is my 5th gas station. I do not know what I'm going to do. "    If you had an EV and house battery you would charge up your car.    It's also called basic storm preparation. All the convoy preppers on here should be well versed. Only an idiot leaves his tank empty when a major storm is coming.
Comment by PCGuy10 on Apr 07, 2023 12:27pm
You just answered you own question on how to fill jerry cans when the power is out. Fill ''em up before the storm hits.
Comment by EndZonefor7 on Apr 07, 2023 12:33pm
As per the CBC story most don't store jerry cans. Your smart car/ home battery system prepares you. It's called the future.
Comment by CanadianPatriot on Apr 08, 2023 1:34pm
Huh? You are doing a road trip and you run out of gas then what? Did you see the line ups for gas?  Some gas stations were sold out.
Comment by idlefreebird on Apr 06, 2023 2:06pm
It's comomn for household to have a little delco generator handy for theze situations in the winter time...no change for this situation...glta
Comment by PCGuy10 on Apr 07, 2023 12:33pm
I've seen those. They tap into your natural gas line and fire up to generate when the power is out. Now if Toronto has it's way and removes all the NG furnaces in the city, there will be no gas line to tap into. Back to square one we go.
Comment by NoobTube on Apr 10, 2023 9:08am
Do you really think that companies are going to go around and remove the NG infrastructure throughout the province?
Comment by PCGuy10 on Apr 10, 2023 10:46am
No. But they won't build it in new build areas.
Comment by CanadianPatriot on Apr 06, 2023 4:46pm
PcGuy you are being rational, logical and senisble.  And a bunch of other good things. In this country that is problematic and frowned on unfortunately.   This is why we have these fairy tale nickel investment ideas.
Comment by PCGuy10 on Apr 07, 2023 12:39pm
Look what happened in China. Chairman Mao wanted to increase crop yields and was obsessed that sparrows were eating 1% of the annual harvest. So he mobilized the country to eradicate the sparrows. The stupid fool didn't understand that sparrows were the main predators of locusts. Next year a plague of locusts destroyed that year's crops and triggered a famine that killed 40 million ...more

You convoy preppers need to stick to investing in Canadian Tire.  Their jerry can sales must be up this month.     Your anti nickel obsession is most bizarre for all your posting history. Tell us where all your other money making stocks are. We're waiting.

Nice call on telling us to buy CJ and it then tanked 15% two days later and has barely recovered to your big buy call price 3 months later.   I'll stick to CNC and MNO. Two strong demand metal stocks that have both high potential to be producing mines and takeover targets.
Comment by EndZonefor7 on Apr 08, 2023 3:42pm
Not sure how you tripled on CJ when you bought big at $8.60 then averaged down to get out with barely a profit. Just like to keep things on the up and up ya know.  https://stockhouse.com/companies/bullboard?symbol=t.cj&postid=35338978 https://stockhouse.com/companies/bullboard?symbol=t.cj&postid=35086940
