Canadian minnow PDI Production has filed plans to carry out exploration activities onshore and off western Newfoundland, writes Iain Esau. By early 2008, the minnow aims to drill an exploration well on its offshore Shoal Point prospect in exploration licence 1070, after which it plans to drill probes on its onshore Garden Hill North and Garden Hill Central prospects. The St John's-based company also wants to drill a development well on its Garden Oil South onshore oil discovery. In total, depending on results, up to five wells could be drilled on Shoal Point and four each on the Garden Hill North-Central complex and the same number on Garden Hill South. The Shoal Point probe could involve drilling a sidetrack from the abandoned, but unsuccessful, K-39 well, or drilling a deviated well from the shore.
