Finally...Goldman Sachs and Pilbara....

So...does anyone go to jail for this one???

GS analyst and pundits downgrade all Li -- also downgrade Pilbara specifically (among others).

Guess who just filed a substantial owner report Form 603 in the US as a new owner of a SUBSTANTIAL amount of Pilbara stock....no, it wasn't Bigops.....Yup, it was our friends at Goldman.

So you tell me - is this market manipulated.....and more important for us, is the future potential clearly there and to the upside --- in my books the answer is a resounding Yes to both.

Note that Goldman did not acquire Pilbara shares, but they BORROWED Pilbara shares from Deutsche Bank.  You can see this in appendix B of the announcement  https://company-announcements.afr.com/asx/pls/fd3929d6-beeb-11ee-83ee-ca3084c9163d.pdf By borrowing the shares, Goldman has increased their voting rights on Pilbara, hence they have been reported as a substantial holder.  ...more

very good catch....and my bad for not reading the appendix any chance they are borrowing to cover an existing short? assuming they borrowed to sell down...wouldn't the stock have been obliterated today given the announcement -- if everyone knows you are about to sell 5% of the float (or more) - why wouldnt they front run you....? seems like an odd strategy to borrow so much that you have to ...more

OK,  fine.  Let me know if I have it right now. Technically they were borrowing shares and that puffed up their holdings on paper. Shares that were worth ____M$  to DeutschBank. So now with this little loaner of shares they could potentially exert influence and therefore had to report.  Loaned to the point of appearing like ownership.  This is how Homer ...more
