What could be the purpose of shutting down trading for a day or more before the announcement. Why couldnt this have traded then halt then announce all in the same morning.

DM thinks the news will be so good that the sp would increase dramatically. Causing IIROC to halt and confirm the news. In this case, IIROC is verifying the news first. Prepare for liftoff!

It's not that uncommon to have a halt last a couple days and the news ends up being just alright , I bet it's a huge PP at 10 cents , sorry bad joke . GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE.

It does not take a full day to verify a NR, and IIROC does not like to halt stocks because they know that companies do this as a promotional tool. IRROC mainly agrees to halt stocks if there is material news which market participants may not receive at the same time (ie. may receive it from DM, or the counterparty). If DM can get convince  IIROC that without a halt some investors may receive
