Where are these bids etc coming from....are they American?

A better question is:  "Where are all the sellers coming from?" There were a lot of posterbulls here that said they had bids all the way down to 0.005 and many other permabulls said the same and there was a long list, perhaps they forgot the buy orders when they left from posting here and they are getting filled!

Simple answer, is looking for a Dead Cat Bounce, buy at 0.01 sell 0.015 there is your answer to the amount of shares being bought. If there were good things happening here then the shares being sold at 0.015 would not fill higher on the sell and the volume of trades would have slowed.
