Price inflation is certainly there. Money supply is also pretty well in real danger of getting out of control as, as you say yourself, "the world is awash in paper/money". (And vast amounts of American debt.) IMHO, central bankers are doing their best to prevent a meltdown in the value of the US$, accounting for the lower interest rates than I would expect any sane person to accept on a debt denominated in such a potentially fragile currency. The fiscal irresponsibility of the present American administration gives me little hope for optimism. This is a large reason why I am so heavily into base metals companies. They have tangible reserves in the ground and are producing commodities that are crucial for infrastructure development in nations like China and India. Aur just so happens to be one of my top picks.
