RE:RE:TBT News Comments on change.org petition website read like typical wokesters with white saviour complex. Mother Earth nonsense, how any of this gets taken seriously it's hard to know.

I would have been amazed if there wasn’t a dissenting voice from somewhere, and I’m 100% sure Mitsubishi has run into this before with their many mining operations. They’re not going to be spooked by this. You will never have unanimity in any population and that’s fine… all voices should be listened to.
I’m specifically not too worried about an online petition. I could start one today about virtually anything that sounds progressive and “dialed-in” to any of the current narratives and get 10,000 signatures in a couple of weeks. Read some of the reasoning people offer for their objections. Nothing specific to the “huge mining company” Frontier Lithium… just generic mining hatred from people that benefit from everything that comes out of the mines. They use their iPhones to post disrespect for the companies mining the lithium in the phone’s battery and then move on to complain about climate change and the need for an EV Revolution. Well-intentioned but ill-informed.
I believe this company has made best efforts to include all stakeholders in the process and genuinely cares about building sustainability into the DNA of the operation. I think Mitsubishi is philosophically aligned as well, with “corporate responsibility to society” being one of their 3 guiding principles:
“Strive to enrich society, both materially and spiritually, while contributing towards the preservation of the global environment.”
We absolutely have a responsibility to ensure we offer a net positive benefit to the communities that will see both positive and negative impacts from this mine. Dialogue is healthy. This is another bump in the road, nothing unanticipated.
