RE: 'Satellite Nav'Well said Inves.....I think there are a lot of misconceptions here!
Needless to say...an imbedded GPS that allows for tracking the asset has absolutely no connection to
an integral sat nav system.
I'd agree that the ramifications of Chapter 11 will render the Aloha installations a lost cause going forward.
Possibly some of the lads who've simplistically and mistakenly viewed AFIRS as a panacea for all industry woes will realize that it couldn't save Aloha from itself ( not that any thinking person should ever have thought that it in the first place)!!....The air carrier industry is a fragile industry at best....it bleeds huge amounts of money on a regular basis. AFIRS has well documented applications ....but it's not well enough entrenched to determine just yet how well the paper financial 'projections' translate to the bottom line of the various subscribers.
It's a 'niche' product .....in a tough market. The financials are still abysmal....losing approx $1.4 million/quarter for the last 4 quarters.
They've been progressively promising those China installs for 3 years now .....so far none installed....and that's approx 73% of the forecast 700 sales. A lot of eggs in the 'China Basket' I'd say.
Time to start delivering on the China contracts ......or a lot of sphincters are going to tighten if those installs don't materialize pretty smartly.
