ARINC and ADCC Sign MOU to Further Develop GLOBALinkSM in China
October 28, 2009
Beijing—ARINC Incorporated today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Aviation Data Communications Corporation (ADCC) of China to further develop its advanced aviation data link (GLOBALinkSM) communications for the Asia Pacific region and its customers.
The China GLOBALink partnership currently operates 87 Remote Ground Stations throughout China. Its joint venture company ADARI Aviation Technology Company Ltd. researches and develops applications for the aviation industry, such as content delivery management systems and electronic flight bag technology.
The terms of the MOU include the renewal of the GLOBALink partnership with ADCC for an additional four years, and the expansion and upgrade of data link coverage in China for new services such as VDL Mode 2.
“ARINC is extremely pleased and excited to further develop our GLOBALink partnership with ADCC,” said Randy Pizzi, ARINC’s Vice President and Managing Director for Asia Pacific. “This MOU will allow both our companies to further enhance the business and technical infrastructure we have built over the last decade together, so as to develop and deliver products and services that will help our customers succeed and be more operationally efficient.”
Mdm. Lu Xiaoping, Chairwoman of ADCC stated, “We are very happy with the progress and results achieved in China in partnership with ARINC. We look forward to continuing with our growth plans for data link services in China, and developing ADARI as a hub for application development in the region.”
Besides ADCC, ARINC is also collaborating with Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (AEROTHAI) to offer data link services throughout the Asia Pacific region. The ten year partnerships with ADCC and AEROTHAI have established GLOBALink as a leading service used daily by 78 airlines flying more than 3,000 equipped aircraft. The Asia/Pacific GLOBALink network ground infrastructure has now expanded to include 140 Remote Ground Stations located across 12 countries.
GLOBALink is a seamless, end-to-end data link system that enables air crews to communicate and exchange information with ground crews and airline host systems anywhere in the world and without interruption. Data link provides clear, accurate, unambiguous data communications directly to the crew, either via the cockpit multifunctional control display unit or printer. It also stores messages, so the crew can go back and check instructions. Compared with voice communications, data link improves flight deck processes and increases efficiency.
ARINC’s Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Program Manager is a powerful tool for the paperless management of EFB applications. It is designed to help airlines easily and efficiently send, receive, store, and track data—enabling the seamless integration and execution of applications developed by ARINC, airlines, or other third-party providers.
ARINC Incorporated, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group, provides communications, engineering and integration solutions for commercial, defense and government customers worldwide. Headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland with regional headquarters in London and Singapore, ARINC is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
