presentation's weather slide deserves a thorough look

"FLYHT’s weather solutions play a vital role in Aircraft Based Observations (ABOs) for meteorologists & airlines to enhance weather predictability and advance aviation environmental goals. Accurate relative humidity measurements, as provided by the FLYHT-WVSS-II, are the key to accurate contrail prediction and avoidance."

Slide 7:
  • Landmark Collaboration with UK Met and Loganair > Installation of 13 sensors and AFIRS Edge on Loganair’s Embraer fleet; valued at US$6.9M over 8 years. Installations to be completed in 2024. (According to UK Met's original plan for 30 units, there should be another agreement to install 17 more sensors on a second airline.)
  • Expansion of NOAA Relationship > Installation of sensors and AFIRS Edge on WestJet aircraft; initial value of $500K, with the option up to $2.8M for additional aircraft. Installations to be completed in 2024.
  • Additional Weather Soundings > Now providing cruising soundings (to Synoptic) in addition to troposphere observations; incremental (increase in) revenue per aircraft (three soundings vs. two previously). Additional soundings already underway.

FLYHT-WVSS-II™ uses Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) technology and internationally accepted standards to enable meteorological data collection for commercial aircraft, in support of the global WMO AMDAR program, enhancing meteorological operations and aviation weather support.

Key output data includes:

Water Vapor Concentration
System Status Data
Internal Pressure
Internal Temperature
Engineering Data

FLYHT-WVSS-II™ operates fully automated with high accuracy of measurement and reliability for long term performance. The product produces no drag through its aerodynamic design, and does not require external heating with zero icing risk. Its compact in size and weight yet highly durable, and requires low power usage and low maintenance, all of which contributes to it low cost operation. The cost of AMDAR with FLYHT-WVSS-II™ is less than 10% the cost of a radiosonde sounding over a 5-year period.

FLYHT-WVSS-II™ completely meets international standards and is certified for multiple aircraft types. Its effectiveness is independently validated and is proven for wide use in meteorological operations. The product also provides simplified installation and data acquisition interfaces.
