I am growing into owning shares in many companies. I think I'm at 20 or so. I pick them based on reading of their MD&A and their financial statements with an eye to potential success, establish a core position and I try to trade above core based on the highs and lows indicated through TA.
I have developed my own moto of "Keep your paddle in the water" since I find that share value increases when I least expect it, and if I don't own, I don't move forward.
Surprise rises multiply with more companies in the portfolio.
The surprise rises are the fun part but I find that the overall personal rewards are finding good companies, using good dd, good TA and making the right decisions.
GDNP is definitely on my list.
