End of day trading.......

From this point in time......14:27:17 EDT  starting with this trade......0.63  500
and into the close.....there were 45 trades of 500 shares plus a few small blocks which all went at the ask of .63 and .64. Total of 60K shares. Not one order was done at the bid.

And while it took three hundred thousand shares for the price to go down to .59 from .64, it took just 21,500 shares to move it from .59 to .63. This is a great example of MM manipulation!

don't understand. Why is this manipulation? To me it seems quite straightforward. Once everyone who wants to sell has sold, a little buying pressure will move the stock back up.

I don't think it's manipulation. I think some of it is algorithmic selling. My broker offers algo orders and others do as well though I've never used it. When I see lots of small trades going through i think it's just the algo's feeling things out. I also see a lot of bids and asks that if you take them out, they instantly reappear. Again, I just assume it's the algo's. ...more

21,500 shares to move it from .59 to .63  Sorry but 21K shares does not provide any kind of pressure. The bid price refers to the highest price a buyer will pay for a security. The ask price refers to the lowest price a seller will accept for a security. So when the above is understook correctly, buying pressure appears on the bid not the ...more

Teakbois - you are making no sense. In isolation 21000 shares may or may not constitute buying pressure but if the asks are very thin then 21000 shares may very well be enough to take the shares up by 3 or 4 cents. It all depends on the stock and the share structure. Take, for example, a stock like ARU. It moves up with 15000 shares because the share structure is so tight. The other thing that is ...more

I understand your point about share structure and float and average daily volume. GPG  average daily volume is a known factor. 21K shares vs 300K in daily volume is meaningless.  The 21K shares were all at the ask. Those are sellers. "But in that case it is a risky strategy.....  It is not risky when you are the control mechanism. .....because you have to cover the shares ...more
