Shneps, I appreciate your ability to do that.
Unrelated to GRB but today I've met one of the thought leaders in my industry (software testing).
The event took place in Ghent in a business area at the Ghelamco Arena.
Ghelamco is also the company of a large Belgian real estate developer.
Paul Gheysens | Lifetime Achievement in Real Estate
A Belgian GRB shareholder shared this text (from a recent interview with their CEO Mr. Gheysens) two weeks ago with me as it made him think about Greenbriar:
Gheysens: "I have already experienced worse. Why do you think we are so strong? Because of our know-how and technological innovation. Sustainability in our real estate development is in our genes. We are miles ahead of the rest because we are always anticipating. And what have we done in recent years? In crisis, you shouldn't shed people; you should apply for building permits. Because what is the value of your business as a developer? Your land, of course. But especially your building permits. We really have a lot of them. When other companies have yet to start, and sometimes have to wait years for such a permit, we already have it. When the market is on the rise again, we can respond very quickly to demand. We can start building tomorrow, so to speak. Land is only worth money when you can build on it. So those lands are worth a fortune. But, and note this well, these are at a historical cost on our books. To us, however, they are worth much more, and we do not express that in our books." (HLN.be, Feb 11, 2024)
