Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act

The market hasn’t sorted this out yet, but the IFA could have a major impact on North American miners. The requirement that EV batteries have locally (North American) sourced materials within the next two years, to qualify for the $7500 tax credit, will have battery manufactures scrambling to secure locally-sourced EV minerals (graphite, lithium, copper, nickel, cobalt, etc). Grid’s Makwa/Mayville Ni/Cu project and associated Donner Li project could now fall under a whole new light, considering that these are currently being rejigged as smaller scale mining operations that could be fast-tracked, because they won’t require federal involvement in the permitting process. Things could get interesting for Grid this fall and ya gotta love the amount of leverage in this one.
