Government/local contracts just don't stop even during inflationary periods especially when liability is involved in moving children around an area.
Contracts move share prices, keeping investors happy. If you don't care about investors go private.
NineLives, you are correct, contracts, contracts, contracts. No they don't stop, but they do get delayed for various reason's, and sometimes cancelled. Let me think now, Covid pandemic, supply chain issues, cash restraints and safe guarding during tough times, train and bus ridership returning to a more normal.
The reason for these massive rate hikes is to slow economic spending, in an attempt to regrow supply and bring prices back down to earth. We are talking everything from a loaf of bread to a house. I have no doubt that we will be in a global reccession as a result. This scenario does impact business decisions in very big way.
