You are missing the same thing I did few years back.
When market is selling OFF , resource stocks hurt the most.
I was told that before but I did not listen and I paid the price.

 Just check resource stock prices from FALL 2008 - SPRING 2009 .  Pick any stock good or bad, big or small and compare the price 2006->2009->2011 and you'll understand what I am talking about.
