No one knows how long Mewmont andGoldcorp were evaluation each other because of something called a CA. You have heard of those, right? You assume that becuase IDM and Ascot started negotiations that it was a sure thing that IDM would be a taken out by Ascot. How do you know this is the case? Negotiations could have ended in no deal. IDM went on advancing their project as any company should. Also if you have been to or listened to presentations given by Rob McLeod at recent shows he has mentioned but not dwelt on M&A. Almost all juniors are looking at these situations all the time - good business to do so.
