RE: Sorry ITM is not a PC reseller......

RE: Sorry ITM is not a PC reseller...... indeed, itm will not be a pc reseller. obviously. compaq has a program for consultants where if they recommend compaq gak and it results in a sale (say 2 big boxes and 40 proliants) compaq cuts a check to the consultant for 10-12% of the sale. many hardware and software cos do this. nothing new. 15 million is not really alot of money for gear all things considered. ITM is going after the big wheels so huge hardware/software deals ect will be the norm. the 100 million will not be on itms balanace sheet but the commission will be. i do not think it is reasonable for itm to do that much commerce with CPQ but what i find unusual is to lay it out like they have. many people criticise KPMG consultants for only recommending CSCO gear and the IT buyers always wonder whether they are getting the best solution or just the solution that is the best deal for KPMG. itemus will be a compaq solutions provider regardless of what is best at the time. thats the way big business works and its not necessarily a bad thing but it is something IT guys think about. so a big deal must be in the works... i guess to figure out what slice of a 100 million dollar gak deal the consultants get could give some insight into base income then any consulting and solution design margins and ongoing handholding or licensing deals. the deal is itemus recommends compaq not compaq recommends itemus unless i missed something... anyway i expect some news on a nice contract ( or several) and the beauty is to get in and out at just the right time.
