RE: Misunderstanding re: demo plant

RE: Misunderstanding re: demo plant

willpelly you said, " Lignol has decided to SKIP the demonstration plant step, and is going straight to a commercialization size plant. Basically, based on their partners, technology, trials and anticipated needs they made their plans bigger and bolder."

I guess we could always sugar coat things but the truth of the matter is that Lignol no longer qualified under the DOE specifications for grant money.

Lignol didn't just up and decide they didn't want the DOE money and chose to SKIP this phase.  They just didn't qualify under their original application.

Hopefully in the long term they get things progressing and are able to compete with the other technologies already in the market.  They're still testing, so until they complete their R&D and actually make plans to build a commercial biorefinery, they are behind the '8' ball IMO.

PLET on the other hand has applied with the USDA and the DOE in helping them secure funding to build a commercial biorefinery as stated in the link I provided.

PLET qualifies for USDA and DOE support because they are building (retrofitting an already existing corn based ethanol plant) a 2nd generation cellulosic feedstock biorefinery in Tennesse which is a rural area and they will be employing 'X' amount of Americans.

What's stopping Lignol?  They just aren't there yet, IMO.  Hopefully within the next year or 2.  atb
