Lignol Energy Corporation > Losing Steam?

Losing Steam?

Wasn't expecting to see weakness at this point.  They'll need to get out some kind of news regarding the HP-L Lignin sales or this may move lower short term, IMO.

I was looking to add more, and it looks like there may be some opportunity to do so.  This is a long term play, so the short term weakness should be only temporary IMO, and provides opportunity to accumulate.

At least that's what I'm hoping.  Gonna try and buy some at 0.16 if it goes there.  JMO

Great story, unfortunately the lack of liquidity can cause drastic price swings, but for some leads to opportunity.Hopefully when we get news on the HP-L Lignin sales, the drastic swing will be upwards.  atb Last: 0.175   Change: -0.015   Volume: 38,000    ...more

Ignore the day to day volatility. It is only on very light volume.Perhaps a few investors who do not understand how quickly  the master plan is moving forward here. Its fairly obvious that the transformation of biofuels to cellulose-base is now underway and would seem to be profitable even when  using lignin only as a  fuel. The need, demand and benefits are obvious.Lignol stands ...more

Birchjunk, you are precisely correct in your summary! There is way too much over-analysis suddenly on this board. I suppose those recently attracted by the sudden run-up expected a continuation of the trend in early April - doubling every two weeks!IMHO, the stock has been digesting that run-up very well - we seem to trade every day at .20...give the corporate strategy some time to play out.Calm ...more

Good point.Haywood was buying again today.MacNeil............... Haywood analyst that follows LEC...........has yet to update her research report on LEC..I suspect that they are waiting for their clients to get their positions first.

birchjunk, you said "Its fairly obvious that the transformation of biofuels to cellulose-base is now underway and would seem to be profitable even when  using lignin only as a  fuel. The need, demand and benefits are obvious."Well I don't see any one particular company jumping out and partnering with Lignol just yet.  Actually, they've had some opportunities in the ...more

Patience. Don't forget that Lignol has an impressive patent portfolio to protect their intellectual property. I agree that they need to make some strides on the business side, but all in good time.

You seem to lack comprehension of  just how advanced Lignol really is............patents, derivative lignin product sales and strong partnership consortium with some of the best names in the business.I know of no food-based ethanol producer that is profitable and that includes their subsidy. The alternative is cellulosic and Lignol is the most advanced and innovative , including its ...more

I agree with you SlumdogMillionaire, but time is short, and although I don't want to stress the need for money, LEC needs to make strides before money runs out and they have until September which is only 4 months away.Sill time, but it's pushing it and seeing how they haven't been able to ink a JV deal yet, it's a tad concerning.  Hopefully management will pull through.I ...more

birchjunk, it's not about comprehension of Lignol's technology, I'm not concerned about that, nor am I concerned with the frugality of management when spending money to advance the project.  I think they're doing a great job and a transparent one. What concerns me is the operational aspect and how soon they can move to the next level and that is commercialization. The CEO ...more

Where do you get one month from? "Industrial trials are an important step in the process of obtainingcommercial validation and customer acceptance of products incorporatinghigh-performance lignins. The process involves months oflaboratory-scale product applications testing by Lignol and itsdevelopment partners culminating with industrial production trials."Thanks

I noticed that too M101, but didn't bother to ask birchjunk.  He added another comment earlier regarding the possibility of a private ethanol company merging with LEC and going public, but he didn't bother to elaborate.I put out an email Friday to LEC.  Will wait and see what type of response I get.  Have a safe Victora Day for those in Canada.

Typically, Lignol receives its Govt funding grants in the second half of the year. This is a reflection of the budget timing. The Canadian budget has yet to be passed ( it is now set for June ) and that is also the case for the US.Its quite probable that those grants will carry Lignol through to the end of the year, as it did in 2010.Management have systematically laid the fundamentals for a major ...more

Good to have some feedback birchjunk.  LEC is definitely a long term play with great potential, and short term catalyst IMO as well will be the results of their current trial sale trials with their development partners.  Longer term, I believe they will get the funding needed to fulfill their baseline operations, but I would really like them to sign an offtake ...more

Just did some digging on Pacific Ethanol and although they're the leading marketer/producer of ethanol in the West Coast USA, they're not the largest oufit with a global reach.Too bad the deal with Suncor fell through back in 2009 due to the poor financial markets and the downturn in oil.  Wonder if they could get that deal going again?  Now that would make head waves now IMO ...more

Pacific Ethanol has been losing money hand-over-fist despite substantial growth in production. The reason....it is a first generation ethanol producer and high corn prices are killing their margins. The solution obviously is to shut down or convert to a second generation model. As far as I can determine, Lignol is miles ahead of anyone else.It has the best-in-class pretreatment patent and its ...more

Am I not correct that Lignol as an LOI with Suncor too ? TheRock07, I'm not sure if Suncor is still in the picture although I believe I read somewhere that Suncor still retains the right of first refusal regarding the construction of an ethanol plant using LEC's technology. I asked the company but still have not received a reply. Suncor was working with LEC for 3 years prior to them ...more
